Its tuesday and shake and bake decides hes up for an adventure.  Where to go? Case? Gay City? the res? - I dont think so!  Cruising around the topo map I mysteriously run into some section of green with lots of trails - sounds good - its called Douglass state forest near the CT-MA-RI border.  As we get off the highway S&B is looking on the map and see's a bad luck pond, wants to get a picture, but no dice..  So we find the park, and park..

Starting off with some MTBR trail directions we find some awesome FOREVER ramp nature trail (cedar swamp trail) that we shouldn't be on, very cool, very desolate except for the pot smoking chick who was doing some inner healing.. Miniscule loop and back to Coffeehouse loop - great stuff, rocky technical sections, lots of fun.  That was over pretty quick before we hit endless sandy fire roads - to ok single track, to the midstate trail short downhill that was good (no white nuckles though)..  after that we decided to explore on our own, found some good single track, double track, then cross rte 16 to MORE FOCKING FIRE ROADS - Id rather be mapping out a trailer park!!  Back to 16 some short ST..  Then Midstate trail - so I say - hey this trail over here looks good and its even on the map - single track and all..  S&B has little faith and wants more tech's - thought I would never here that from him..

So we cruise on this awesome trail, rocks, logs, single track, slick rock - BUT we don't seem to be covering ground very quickly, its like were in a time warp..  Finally the trail hits a T and I ponder heading back because it took us so long to do this short section...  AHHH plenty of light..  We continue, trail is awesome, full of rocks, slick rock, bone jarring fun - pukecycle is getting a workout, S&B is finally falling behind.  So to make a long story short we were basically 1 mile from where we needed to go for like 7 miles, which was then once we got there still 5 miles from the car (it was dark, and we were wearing sunglasses), and the car was roughly 60 miles from marks car which was 30 miles from his parents house where he was supposed to be having dinner one hour ago!  How was that for a run on sentence..  S&B got what he wished for with those rocky trails!!  I was actually uttering profanities to myself up front (as the sun set) but tried to regain my composure so that S&B didn't think we were focked.."ADRIANE!!"   The GPS gods were Fing with us..  So we finally got to where we already had been, and took the road back by bad luck pond..  Bad Luck my ass, I got a free stale donut on the way home with my coffee..  You see S&B was totally dehydrated, but I was not totally dehydrated, so I needed to suck the rest of the H20 out of me with a coffee before I started hydrating again..  Its just a theory but I think the human body behaves like a NI-CAD battery..

EPIC unexpected adventure - 4 hours 17 miles and about 900 vertical - actually about 2500 vert if you counted every rock we rolled over. 5 full buckets of worm sized orange belly gardner snakes - don't be afraid its actually Indian Lo-mien, and you know its fresh....well.... because its ALIVE.

Thanks for being a trooper S&B - PM
