Ride recap: After finally uploading a DeLorme route to my GPS giving an excellent route to Meshomesic, I departed slightly (OK, REALLY!) late. It was about 5:30, and DeLorme was predicting 1:11 time enroute. I figured I could go faster than the default speed of 60, so I was OK. As I pulled out of Sikorsky's parking lot, I saw another parking lot. The Merritt. Full stop. I know from much experience that it would take me 20 minutes to cross the bridge, minimum, and that it would be almost 7:00 before I got to Meshomesic. So I bailed. I called Jon at home. Too late. Left a message. So I called Katrina (CG), figuring she might know how Jon's cell phone number. She's not attached to her cell phone. Kat, that name is REALLY in jeopardy now. But she did call back 5 minutes later!!! She told me Jon didn't have a cell phone. Now what are you kidding!!!!! So I told her I was going to ride Trumbull by myself. I pulled into the lot, (still talking to CG), and saw a Forerunner that I thought was Dan's. But I looked inside and there were two kiddie seats. Oh well. I started getting dressed. MEANWHILE, some other guy is riding around the lot trying to watch me get dressed. GEEZ what kind of freak is this?? I'm thinking "Something about Mary" at the rest stop!! Anyway they take off, then I take off. I rode the same loop we rode last week without the Playground/Parlor Rock extension. As I got to the top of the cliff over the highway, the same guy and another guy were stopped at the top. They apologized for harassing me in the parking lot, they were looking for someone else...whatever. They invited me to ride with them, and they were actually really good. Pete and Andy, they saw us last week, they only remembered PA (Way to go, Ally!!) "Yeah, there was like twelve of you right?" "And one girl, really hot?" Yea. At least now I know they're straight!!! So we rode the loop, they knew a couple little diversions, including one sik downhill (short but REALLY steep). I rode the picnic table clean after Pete convinced me it was easy. Then I got a flat, my spare tube was N/G, so Andy gave me a tube. Now I like these guys! You know the glen area just north of the Serengeti, where the skirt route (for me) goes wide to the right and manly men go down the middle? These guys run it far left, on an double-angled rock face, NICE! Back to the Serengeti...drying up nicely, like a desert should. Then a fast downhill back to the car...getting dark, looking like rain. Over the handlebars: Pete-once, Andy-none, but an honorable mention for an attempted two foot wheelie drop where he missed the rear brake and wheelied over the top, landing on his back and breaking his seat. (Both the one on his bike and his ass!) Me-none, but an honorable mention for running into a two inch live tree while blabbing...missed the brake and drove right into the tree. Thats all folks. 6.54 miles. Jon, here's the .tpg file. Note there is one problem towards the end, where it put one point WAY off on the other side of 25.
